Our Goals

Revitalizing the Harvey Public Access Channel and authoring the Harvey Times Newspaper are the two projects at the top of Studio 155th's priority list. The goal of the program is to educate and train the citizens of Harvey and neighboring communities in media arts. Through project-based funding, the program plans to provide access to the arts through media by transforming an available building into a multipurpose arts center. The center will consist of classroom style studios where different forms of art can be explored. New equipment will be purchased and existing equipment will be upgraded to give the community state of the art experiences while visiting Studio 155th. Trained, licensed, and experienced staff will work with the community to integrate arts back into the fabric of community life. The goal of the program is to provide for the community access to the arts by constructing and implementing a program that is accessible to the entire community, that provides training of a life-long skill, and that heals and unites the community through compassion and creativity. Community communication created for the residents by the residents. The public access station will allow for residents to perform newscasts, learn engineering of equipment, and determine the lineup of the broadcasting. The newspaper will allow for written talent to be explored and the fundamentals of digital print to be acquired.
